Rangla Punjab 2024

Punjabi Cultural Society’s annual flagship event “RANGLA PUNJAB – 2024,” to celebrate Vaisakhi festival, held on April 20th. at Copernicus Center in Chicago was a dazzling extravaganza of Punjabi culture and community. More than 1200 community members and guests from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin flocked to watch more than 350 local talent in authentic, traditional, colorful costumes, who presented energetic performances of more than 30 varieties of Punjabi folk dances Bhangra and Giddha, solo songs, “boliaan” on “Dhol” beats music, performed by young children, youth and adults, non-stop for about 5 hours. This memorable event was a delightful blend of culture and community, and a huge success by all measures, evident from the complements and applause from the audience. It was truly like a mini-Punjab in Chicago.

The program started with the national anthem and a prayer (Shabad), and ended with a raffle with exclusive prizes. All this effort by PCS is geared towards keeping the Punjabi culture alive in our next generation. The Chief Guest was Punjab born, multi-talented, but down to earth, Hollywood, Bollywood, and Pollywood Actor, Director, Producer, Writer and TV shows fame Kavi Raz. Meharvan Singh Phd., a research scientist and educationist was the guest of honor. Retiring Board of Governors Sukhmel Singh Atwal was also honored by his colleagues. Immediate Past President Bhupinder Singh Dhaliwal and Chairman Nick Balwinder Singh were honored with plaques for their services and ongoing support.

All the performers and sponsors were honored with trophies and plaques. The Grand Sponsors were Dr. Narinder Singh Grewal and Dr. Vikramjit Singh, while the Platinum sponsor was Patel Brothers and several Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors. The program was emceed by Gurnaaz Sohi, Harsimran Bhandohal, Kabir Virk, Saihaj Sidhu, Gurneer Sidhu, Mankirath Singh and Gurnoor Singh.
